As Singapore enter phase 2 of the Circuit Breaker, let us be reminded that COVID-19 is still on-going and there might be a second outbreak just like the situation in Beijing if we do not observe safe practices.
We're happy to share on the following changes on the advisory provided by NEA
Phrase 2 restrictions on funeral wakes.
(1). Attendees at funeral wakes, shall be kept to twenty persons or fewer at any one time, depending on the safe capacity of the venue, whichever is lower.
(2). Foot processions, burials and cremations shall be attended by not more than twenty persons in total (excluding funeral and religious workers, who must be kept to a minimum).
(3). All attendees at funeral wakes, foot processions, burials and cremations will have to be in masks, and maintain safe distancing of at least one metre from one another at all times. Where it is not feasible to apply one metre safe distancing between individuals, this one metre requirement can instead be enforced between groups, with each ground made up of not more than 5 persons, and with no mixing between groups. Other safe management measures must also be in place
(4) Where seating at a table is provided, every chair for each-table must be placed at least one metre away from any other chair for another table at all times. Tables and chairs must be arranged such that each table can accommodate not more than 5 individuals seated at the table or not more 5 individuals in each group separated by space of at least 1 metre. There should be no mixing between groups.
(5). Attendees of funeral events should minimize their interaction with fellow attendees and leave the premises immediately after the event. No buffet set-up or post-event reception with food and drinks is allowed.
(6) Keep vulnerable persons, such as the elderly, from attending these events to protect their health and consider alternatives solution for them, such as live video screening instead.
(7). Live band, live music, singing groups, musical performers, or hearse escort party are not allowed during the funeral event.
(8). NEA will issue 20 entry passes for each cremation/burial application at the government-managed facilities.
